A 24-second long video is being shared widely as visuals of Hindu men forcing a Muslim woman to say ‘Jai Sri Ram’.
The video shows a woman wearing a hijab crying even as a group of men intimidate and heckle her. In the background, two-three male voices can be heard saying, “Bol Jai Sri Ram” repeatedly in Bengali.

The post has gathered over 55,o00 views and has been shared more than 1,300 times at the time of this article being written.
A Facebook user named Q Khan Akram posted the video on June 20. It has 1,50,800 views, along with 1300 likes and 3700 shares. Though he has not mentioned where the incident took place, his bio says he is from Ranchi, Jharkhand.
Other social media users also shared the same video, helping it go viral.

By running reverse image searches with a few key frames from the video, we were able to locate the same uploaded by Bangladeshi social media users in September 2025.
Sylhetor News, a media outlet based in Sylhet, Bangladesh, shared it on Facebook on September 16, 2025. According to the caption, a girl named Anika was caught stealing from a shop in Mirpur College Market, Dhaka. Some locals assaulted her after catching her red handed.
The footage contains fairly clear audio. ItT does not match the soundtrack of the viral video and no one can be heard raising a ‘Jai Sri Ram’ slogan.
At the 50-second mark in the video uploaded by Sylhetor News, the CCTV footage of the shop from where the girl was apprehended is shown. In that CCTV footage, the name of the store, Sohana’s Pet Shop, can be spotted.
We located the shop in Mirpur, Dhaka by a simple google map search. It is located at 76/A, Hazarat Shah Ali College Market, Dhaka.
The same video was also posted by other Facebook users such as Sobuj Anwar Hossein Byabsha, BD Tube Master News. These posts carry the same details about the incident. Several users objected to the girl being assaulted.
None of these videos contain ‘Jai Sri Ram’ slogans.
Thus it is clear that a video from Bangladesh was edited with an audio overlay to claim that a Muslim woman had been forced to chant ‘Jai Sri Ram’ slogans by Hindus in India. The original footage is from Dhaka where in September 2025 the woman was allegedly caught stealing from a shop.
