We struggled at $1k MRR for a year… then hit $1k MRR in 2 weeks (and here’s why)

Hey Dev Community 👋

Wanted to share a transparent story about our SaaS journey—because I know many developers here are building side projects, and this might resonate.

🛠 The backstory

In February 2024, we launched LanderMagic while still working our full-time jobs.
At first, it was a tool to dynamically personalize your own landing pages (on Webflow, WordPress, etc.).
You could tweak headlines, CTAs, and content automatically based on UTM parameters, ad keywords, or geolocation.

It was useful… but, to be honest, it was a “Nice to have.”

For a whole year, we grinded and struggled around $1k MRR.
No real growth. Just small wins here and there, but nothing scalable.

🚀 The turning point

In early 2025, we quit our jobs to go all-in on LanderMagic.
We doubled down on user feedback and started noticing a pattern:

Most users didn’t just want to personalize their landing pages…
They wanted to build better landing pages from scratch, especially for Google Ads campaigns.

They were spending money on paid traffic but sending visitors to messy, generic, or slow pages.

So we decided to pivot hard.
In March 2025, we repositioned LanderMagic as a landing page builder dedicated to Google Ads.
You can now build and personalize your own landing pages—all-in-one—without coding.

The full builder isn’t even live yet.
We’re launching the private beta in April 2025.
But here’s the crazy part:

👉 Before even building it, we started pre-selling the feature.
👉 In 2 weeks, we generated $1k of new MRR.
That’s the same amount we struggled to make in an entire year before.

🔥 What changed?

We finally stopped building a “Nice to have” product and started selling a “Must have.”
A product that solves a clear, painful, expensive problem.

🎯 What’s the takeaway?

If you’re working on a SaaS, here’s my #1 advice after this experience:

Don’t waste time building something nice. Build something necessary.
Solve a real pain point. Make people pull out their credit cards.

Even if the niche feels crowded, it doesn’t matter.
If the market is big and the problem is painful enough, there’s room.

If you’re curious, here’s what we’re building:

I’ll try to share regular updates and lessons learned along the way.

Thanks for reading 🙌
