Text Analyzer is a powerful JAWS feature that helps you catch formatting issues, punctuation problems, and other inconsistencies in your documents or web pages. Whether you’re writing a report, taking notes in class, or editing a web article, Text Analyzer lets you review your work with more confidence and accuracy.
What Can It Catch?
- Font and color changes
- Unmatched parentheses or quotation marks
- Extra spaces or stray punctuation
JAWS notifies you with a sound, a description, or a count of issues, depending on your preferences. You can even navigate directly between inconsistencies using ALT+WINDOWS+I (and SHIFT to move backward), no matter if the feature is turned on or off.
Two Ways to Use It
1. Continuously Monitor as You Read
Enable Text Analyzer in Quick Settings (INSERT+V) and choose your preferred alert method: sounds, spoken descriptions, or counts.
2. Manually Monitor When Needed
Just press INSERT+SPACEBAR, then A to temporarily turn on “Describe all inconsistencies.” This is great for quick checks without changing your default settings. Use this same command to turn it off.
Text Analyzer is a simple tool that makes a big difference. Use it to build better documents and sharpen your editing skills; whether you’re in the classroom, the office, or anywhere in between.
