“Helado Tropical”: Helado Negro & Reyna Tropical Discuss Collaboration & Perform at DN! Studio
Helado Tropical is the new collaborative album by Roberto Carlos Lange, better known by his stage name Helado Negro, and Fabi Reyna, who fronts the band Reyna Tropical.
Lange was born in the United States to Ecuadorian immigrant parents, while Reyna was born in Mexico and raised in Texas. They recently visited the Democracy Now! studio to perform music from the new album. In an extended interview, they also discussed how their immigrant backgrounds affect their perspectives and the power music, joy and play as means of resistance.
