Rage Against the Machine is one of my favorite bands ever.
My buddy Eric found a bootleg copy of Evil Empire on the floor of our bus in 5th grade, and I was instantly hooked. They were a big part of me learning more about the American history they don’t teach in school.
Their music has never been more relevant. But they haven’t released new music in 25 years.
To my utter delight, a rapper that I enjoy, Emilio Rojas, just started a new punk-metal band called USvTHEM.
They are very much the spiritual successor to Rage Against the Machine, and their first single came out yesterday.
They arguably sound a little too much like Rage, but I’ve missed this sound so much and I don’t care if it’s derivative.
It’s so refreshing to hear music of substance at a time like this. It took me a few watches to notice that Emilio’s mic is wrapped in a Free Palestine flag, too.
I’m definitely looking forward to hearing more from these dudes!
