Opera Listens: Introducing New Community-Inspired Themes to Opera One

Last year we introduced Themes into Opera One. They let you alter the entire Theme of your browser by letting you customize the UI colors, animated backgrounds, browser sounds, background music, and more! Since then, we’ve been constantly adding new aesthetics and fun ways to interact with Opera One, as well as collaborations with inspiring artists to bring their art into your browser.

Today we’re bringing three very special new Themes to Opera One that have been developed based on your feedback. They are:

  • Mirage – a deep, rich dark color palette designed to reduce eye strain.
  • Isen – it means “ice” in Norwegian, and it is inspired by the serene moonlit nights of Norway.
  • Cube – a dynamic and modern animated theme featuring a shifting cube in a digital landscape, created by Dante Metaphor.

Let’s check them out!

Give Opera One a black noir look with Mirage

After reading your feedback on the general Themes feature in Opera One, we immediately identified that many of you are asking for a “matte black,” “solid black/grey,” and “just black” Theme. Well, say no more! With Mirage we’re introducing a fully dark Theme that ranges from matte black to dark grey – giving your browser a true black noir feeling.

This Theme is perfect for those of you who live in dark mode, as it’s soft on your eyes and its elegant and minimalistic design keeps distractions at bay. So, if you’re browsing late into the night, coding-non stop, or plowing through your uni readings, Mirage is your best companion in Opera One.

Mirage comes with multiple pre-installed wallpapers that have been carefully selected to transmit a calm, mystical look into the browser through a deep dark color palette.

Regardless of the season, embrace Isen

Inspired by moonlit nights in the Norwegian winter, Isen wraps your browser in deep, swirling shades of blue – like glacial water caught in a slow, hypnotic motion. The gentle rotation of the vortex adds a sense of depth and stillness, evoking frozen fjords, icy winds, and the quiet magic of a Nordic landscape at night. It’s both serene and powerful – a visual experience that stays subtle while channeling nature’s calm intensity.

This Dynamic Theme comes with an animated background, browser sounds, and background music, providing a calming sensory experience that helps reduce fatigue throughout your browsing sessions. You can tweak Isen to be different shades of blue, letting it adapt to the time of the day in which you’re browsing.

Behold Dante’s Cube

Finally, created by visual artist Dante Metaphor, the Cube Theme brings a digital sculpture to life right on your start page. A mesmerizing 3D cube pulses with intricate, animated patterns – a network of smaller cubes, wires, and floating parts that seem to evolve as you watch. Cube captures a sense of controlled chaos and high-tech beauty, giving the browser a high-tech industrial style.

This avant-garde sculpture is perfect for those of you who are looking for inspiration, a sense of motion, and structure – a dynamic and visually stimulating browsing environment. Its animated design keeps a dynamic feel that brings a pinch of inspirations to creators, developers, and tech enthusiasts.

The Cube Theme also comes with browser and keyboard sounds, and background music is also available. You can choose between a dark or light mode for the cube, suiting your preference and mood.

As you might have noticed by now, we like to collaborate with talented and inspiring artists to bring their creations into Opera One. It was already the case with our previously launched themes: Ethereal, Metamorphic and Interstellar Themes, as well as Calma and Sossego. With this one, credit is due to Dante Metaphor, and we hope you can enjoy this art on a daily basis.

Meet Olaf, our friendly browser Viking

Finally, we wanted to give a shoutout to Olaf, our new resident in the Viking Theme which brings a fun 8-bit style to Opera One. The Viking Theme features a Nordic scenery that cycles between the four seasons – which means that you can make it cloudy, snowy, sunny or even experience the Northern Lights, all in Olaf’s company.

Send us your feedback, we’re listening
