Your browser should be as unique as your gaming rig. It’s the command center for your streams, your guides, your community – so why should it be generic? Today, we’re rolling out the second “Browser Booster” update to Opera GX, a package of new features built to give you more power, style and control.

The default cursor is dead. Welcome custom and animated cursors

Let’s be honest, the standard mouse cursor is a relic. It’s boring, and it’s been the same for decades. It’s time for an upgrade. With the “Browser Booster” update, Opera GX is now the first and only browser to give you fully custom animated cursors. We’ve teamed up with Sweezy Cursors to build a library of over 30 cursor packs right in the GX Store. There you’ll find cursors prepared by Opera GX and Sweezy Cursors, plus cursors from your favorite and most popular mods. To get started, just head to the GX Store, find a cursor pack you like, and add it as a Mod with a single click. No risky extensions, no performance drain, no fuss. That means custom cursors are built with key benefits in mind:

  • Visual consistency: Custom cursors work across the entire browser, not just on web pages. The cursor doesn’t revert when hovering over tabs, menus, or settings, ensuring a fully immersive and polished experience.
  • Ease of use: Users can simply browse the cursor collection in GX Store, click “apply,” and the cursor updates instantly. No configuration, no external downloads, and for free.
  • Security: Unlike third party browser extensions that may pose privacy risks, all cursor customizations in Opera GX are hosted and executed locally and safely within the browser.
  • Performance: These custom cursors are fully integrated with Opera GX’s rendering engine, ensuring no slowdown even with complex animations.
  • Future game IP integrations: Opera GX plans to collaborate with gaming studios to release branded cursor packs based on popular titles, giving users another way to express their identity online.

Opera Translate is now in stable version: Your key to global gaming

That translation feature you’ve been testing in Early Bird? It just hit the level cap. Opera Translate – powered by Lingvanex – is now officially stable and built right into Opera GX. Ever needed a guide from a Japanese fan wiki, wanted to follow a Korean esports team, or buy gear from a foreign site? GX now automatically detects pages in other languages and offers to translate them instantly, supporting over 40 languages. Crucially, the translation solution is hosted on Opera’s own European-based servers, ensuring that all translated information is processed in-house and protected by the strictest privacy regulations, without being sent to third party services.

Upgraded Tab Islands: Your inventory management system

Juggling raid guides, Discord, a music stream, and your build planner? Tab chaos is a real boss battle. Tab Islands (feature for grouping related tabs) are your new ultimate ability, and this update gives them a powerup.

  • Name & color-code your Islands: You can now give your Tab Islands custom names and colors. Keep your “Raid Night” group distinct from your “Stream Assets” or “Class Guides” for better organization.
  • Save an entire Island to Speed Dial: Got a perfect setup of tabs for your favorite game? You can now save the entire Island as a single Speed Dial on your start page. One click, and your whole session, guides, maps, music are back online.

The “Browser Booster” update is rolling out to all Opera GX users now. To get your hands on all these new features, just make sure your browser is up to date, or download Opera GX for free.
